Moratorium on bankruptcy is over: what will happen to business next

Until January 7, Russia had a law prohibiting bankruptcy of companies affected by the coronavirus. The moratorium allowed businesses to adapt and survive in difficult conditions. But after the abolition of the ban, experts foresee negative consequences, and in the long term, due to the lack of sufficient economic support measures, a sharp increase in bankruptcy cases.
On January 7, 2021, the RF Government decree No 1587 dated October 1, 2020 "On extension of the period of validity of the moratorium on institution of bankruptcy proceedings at the request of creditors in respect of individual debtors" expired.
